To this day, sensing the aroma of crayons is a familiar and pleasant experience, triggering fond memories of many rainy day adventures for a child with a coloring book and imagination.
My excuse for a business career was to support my passion for art. As a businessman traveling extensively, most of my downtime was spent sketching, composing and painting. Sketchbooks were my traveling companion. My studio today is a wonderful space off sight from my home with great north light and a high ceiling....perfect for creating. For over 60 years now I've never outgrown my passion for developing a language with a brush. The exercise of creating images from my heart and soul have always been paramount. Places visited and often remembered are the foundation for my work. I hope the viewer can be moved to connect their own story and experiences through my work.
Primarily self taught, the most influential mentors were Robert Brackman of the New York Art Students League, and Milford Zornes, our beloved California style plein aire painter and teacher. It’s the process of learning and exploring technique, style, and interpretation that keeps me excited. Traditional landscapes that represent places I've been compliment the contemporary compositions and whimsical art that fulfill my passion of painting what I feel. It is an act of love that I paint.
My studio is in Claremont, CA at the Old School House, 445 Foothill Blvd Suite 104. You're welcome to visit and talk art, life or whatever (with a cup of coffee) ....please call first (909-480-5708) just to make sure I'm available but drop-ins are great too!
